Portrait art doesn't mean that just a face visualizing work but a person. Characteristic capture will make your work even better than just copying. I like to study a person & grab a photo reference of him/her & paint it out with my feeling. Sometimes I failed but I will still give a try on different art styles & approaches. Portrait art sometimes just like a socialism for me, it show how well I know a person & it also provide a chance for me to show them this is how you look like in my eyes.(no matter you like it or not)
Figure drawing or portrait drawing are fundamentals. The most difficult is to study a person's life & accept it.
